Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) is widely recognized as an established cardiovascular risk marker. It is used for cardiovascular risk assessment in patients with hypertriglyceridemia, type III hyperlipoproteinemia or dysbetalipoproteinemia. It is also used to assess the therapy goals. Extremely low levels of LDL-C are associated with genetic disorders like Abetalipoproteinemia & Hypobetalipoproteinemia.
